The American Saddlebred Horse Association of New Jersey was formed and incorporated in 1968 by a group of Saddlebred horse owners. In 1980, the Association became a Charter Club member of the national American Saddlebred Horse Association, the first breed association in America which was founded in 1891.
The Purpose of our organization, as stated in the By-Laws, define our goals. We are committed to working together to achieve these goals as stated below in Article II:
To promote interest in showing, breeding and the pleasure use of the American Saddlebred horse with emphasis on increasing participation in New Jersey.
- To encourage and support the growth of Saddlebred competitions and inclusion of Saddlebreds in non-traditional events in this state and the surrounding area.
- To stimulate recognition of the versatility of the American Saddlebred to persons both within and outside of our breed organizations.
- To educate persons by furthering understanding and appreciation of the breed and it’s history.
- To encourage good sportsmanship and proper conduct while fostering good fellowship.
The principal activity of the ASHA of NJ is the sponsorship of an annual horse show. Since 1986, The Jersey Classic Horse Show has made its home at the Horse Park of New Jersey.
We are pleased to be a supporter of Saddlebred Rescue, Inc.
